ABOUT CHELSEA LEMON

Chelsea Lemon is a Canberra based designer and maker who works with timber, and specialises in parquetry & marquetry. Her work questions archetypical furniture, and showcases a new and fresh approach to the traditional woodworking technique ‘parquetry’ and ‘marquetry’. Her practice incorporates art into craft and design, and offers a new perspective on furniture design within Australia.

Chelsea’s work explores new ways of incorporating shapes into design and surfaces, achieved through creating forms and arrangements that are influenced by nature and architecture.

In 2015 she graduated from the Australian National University School of Art & Design with Honours in Visual Arts, majoring in Furniture Design. Chelsea was the 2018 Design Canberra Artist in Residency at Craft ACT, and has exhibited her furniture at an array of locations, including Parliament House, Australia.
